Post 8925 Chili & BBQ Cookoff Austin/Pilot Knob 7/16/2011
With seemingly endless days of sweltering heat, Mother Nature gave us a break and kept the temperature under a hundred - but just barely. A good southeasterly breeze kept the cooks comfortable under their shade trees and canopies! It was great - you shoulda been there!
There were 25 chili entries turned in for judging, with top honors going to Ken Rodd of Austin. A well-respected CASI cook, Hot Rodd Chili has shown up at many of our cookoffs over the last year or so. His vision is to see CASI and Tolbert reunited, or at least more receptive to each other. To that end, Dwight and Ken have been meeting with Nancy Morgan of Giddy Ups in Manchaca on cookoffs to be held back to back on both Saturday and Sunday over Labor Day weekend. Tobert and CASI together. BB would be so proud, and we’ll say it for him - Hot Rodd - You Rock! Congratulations on the 1st Place Chili too! Details of this event will be coming soon.
Thank you to the Post 8925 Commander and his #1 gal Connie for doing such a terrific job in promoting this cookoff. The trophies were great too!
We are so blessed to have the Martini Girls in our group. 
Debbi Tucker, Janet Matthews, Samantha Costello and Mary Metz - pert near the whole team was there and sacrificed cooking their own chili to run all the judging. They did a Fantastic Job! Everything ran smooth, and on time too. We love you and can’t thank you ladies enough!
