Rory Martin Memorial 3-Hole Golf Tournament
Thursday was the 4th Annual Rory Martin Memorial Golf Tournament. For the terrain the golfers had to deal with,and for all the natural hazzards to contend with, hard hats really should be required. There was a low turn out with only 6 contenders. Even Doug Higgins missed it this year. They had a darn good time anyway!
Won by a new fella, "Jesse," a police officer from Austin, our buddy Dewey Lawhon came in dead last. A Scotsman celebrating an old Scotish game, Russ Stateham dressed for the occasion.
Thursday evening was the Wine & Cheese Tasting Party hosted once more by Susie Higgins of the Terlingua Six Pack fame. Until a year or so ago, this little gathering was held on Mustang Hill in the Terlingua Six Pack camp. Pretty rugged up there unless you're a goat. This year it waswisely held at the CTTCG camp where the ground is level.
The Wednesday evening memorial service for Jimmy Doherty and BB was postponed when a dust storm blew through. Folks just grabbed onto stuff until the gusts died down a little. BB's windmills were quickly moved to safer spots. The "service" was moved to Friday night after the ALS Donation Dinner at the Cowboy Camp.
