The VFW Post 2527 Chili & BBQ Cookoff was a huge success! Every category, save Margaritas, had a larger number of participants than last year. That means we're growing and that's terrific! Keep up the good work! Bring a new cook to our next event, and who knows, they just may become a chilihead too!
Congratulations to Tom Stephens of Lockhart for turning in yet another #1 pot of chili! This fella is on a roll! He's already ticking off the seconds to a cookoff two weeks from now, and probably already has his sights set on first place then too. Follow the count down on our Facebook page.
Special nods to Jamie Brown and her enthusiasm when her ticket number was called for 2nd Place Chili. It was a jumpin' geehossofats moment. Hope she's working on her 1st Place dance, just in case. Speaking of dancing.... witnesses report back that there was a mysterious new form of dancing wherein the women roll back and forth on the floor. Probably had to be there in person for the full affect. Word is they were trying to roll in unison. Hmmmmm. Be on the lookout for this new craze on a dance floor near you.
Hostess and event coordinator Debbi Tucker asked that we thank everybody for all the goods donated for the silent auction, and give recognition to a great group of folks for their hard work in making the VFW Post 2527 Chili & BBQ Cookoff 2011 a smooth running success. Thank you to Rose Henderson, Amy Jones, Matthew Sturn, Sam Brown, Kevin Cravens, Jamie Brown, Tom Stephens, Ron Faulstich, Dewey Lawhon, Robert Corley, and Laura from the VFW. You folks are wonderful and are great examples of why the CTTCG ROCKS!
